NaturFinland is a family-owned company founded by members of the Hackman family in 2021. We dream of giving people a real nature experience in Finland. Our excursions are not limited to summertime, it’s an all-year-round adventure, all four seasons on the ever-changing outdoors. We organise hiking and fishing trips with a professional and authentic guide, who has spent long periods in the forests fishing and picking berries and mushrooms. He will share a genuine and first-hand experience of our forests, lakes, and endemic species. Our company offers a tailored and true outdoor escapade for the senses and lovers of nature and country. We want to bring Finland’s most valuable treasure, its nature, to you.

The Hackman family has a long history as entrepreneurs in Finland, starting in 1777 when Johann Friedrich Hackman founded the Hackman & Co company, in Viborg. The Hackmans have had a big impact on industrial development, trade, politics, and science in the country. The family was ennobled in eighteen hundred and introduced to the Finnish Knights' Hall as a noble family with its crest. Our branch has contributed as researchers in the field of natural sciences for three generations. Notably Victor Axel Hackman (Geologist), Walter Hackman (Entomologist) and Peter Hackman (Molecular Geneticist) among others...

Walter Leopold Victor Hackman

1916 - 2001

Insectologist and head of the Zoological Museum.

Walter received his doctorate in 1949 investigating spider chromosomes. He served as a docent in zoology at the University of Helsinki from 1950–1983 and was awarded the title of Professor in 1976.

Appointed editor-in-chief of Notulae Entomologicae from 1948 to 1961, held several positions of trust in his field, and was a member of the Finnish Science Society from 1955 to 1976 to 1977. During his career, he published numerous studies in his field, including several works on species of spiders, butterflies, moths, flies, and mosquitoes, but was also interested in plants. As a scientist, he scientifically described several new species that have also been named after him.

We are nature lovers and it is of importance for us to actively participate in preserving our environment. We’re ready to put all our scientific knowledge on the service of this cause, which is a matter of utmost priority for humans , and all the other species, for the sake of surviving on this planet. We’d love to emphasize the importance of sustainability and help to keep the balance.
